My wife and I stopped by around 5 PM on a weekday and grabbed a few slices. No wait at all for us. Wait time is simply the result of supply and demand— If you’ve got a tight schedule, maybe save this place for a night you have time or hit it up during during happy hour with the retired folks like we did. Re: service? New shop, means new employees, means management hasn’t had ample time to sift and train. I give new restaurants a little grace here. Pro-tip #1: one thing we both noticed (and others have mentioned) is that the pizza wasn’t warmed quite enough. You can ask for it toasted, where they double-bake it, but that ends up being a little too much. Like Goldilocks, we’d love a “just right” option—something between a quick warm-up and a full toast. Pro-tip #2: skip the cookies. Given how thin they were and being so mid, the price per pound was probably the most expensive cookie in the state of Utah and far from worthy enough to be at that price point. That said, the pizza itself? Outstanding. Maybe even the best in Utah. We’ll be back—again and again—no question. You can really taste the difference. First visit, try the New York style in the Jazzberry! This one is made special just for Utah. “ The wise guy pizza was delicious! I got a cheese slice for my 2 year old daughter. The cheese was also great for just cheese. The slices are huge. I tried the gemelli pasta with vodka cream sauce. It was pretty good and presented pretty on the plate. I got a chocolate gelato for dessert which was really good and refreshing on a hot day. I definitely want to come back to Slice House! Plus the wonderful smells made you feel like you were back at Nonna’s house helping her prepare focaccia and sauce. (Without the passive Italian criticism.) Slice House doesn’t just do one thing well, they MASTER IT ALL. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of New York style with its perfect fold and cheesy stretch, craving the goodness of a classic Grandma piece, obsessed with the thick and airy Sicilian, or in the mood for the crispy-edged, cheesy, saucy (dare I say dirty?) glory of Detroit-style, there’s something for everyone—and each bite has its own unique texture and personality. I’d swipe right on all of them AND bring them home to meet the family. We came for the pizza, but after a little bit of healthy peer pressure, decided to start with some pasta. (Because why wouldn’t we hit carbs on carbs?) We had the gemelli with vodka cream sauce and pancetta, it really deserves its own standing ovation—rich, creamy, perfectly seasoned, held its warmth, and the sauce was clinging to the pasta that was cooked to perfection. It’s the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes and forget the world for a minute. (And you best believe we tossed in some chili oil...YUM!) But then... dessert happened. Because we hadn’t abused our lactose and gluten intolerant bodies enough already. (And yeah...it was more than worth it...catch us outside how bout dat?!) We do have some trusty lactose pills, but that is a story for another day. We had the legendary “Buddy’s” Rainbow Cake, which was as vibrant and fun as it was delicious. But the true star of the show? The house-made cannolis. (STAHP IT) When we ordered them, we were told we’d need to wait about 5 minutes for the chef to make a fresh batch of filling. The Jazzberry pizza is the absolute number one We don’t usually like sweet stuff (like pineapple) in our pizza, but the selection of the jam with the blue cheese, spring onion, bacon and sausage is the true highlight of perfection in a slice of pizza The dough is chewy and tasty, I can only recommend for you to try.
